Prince William Co. Va. Deed Book 1745-1746 page 57-57. An Indenture was made on 28 April 1746 between Cuthbert Harrison who is leasing land to Andrew Beard. Lease reads " All that parcel of land which the aforesaid Cuthbert Harrison purchased of Christopher Holmes lying on Luckey Run in the Parish of Dettingin and County of Prince William aforesaid containing One hundred and thirteen acres of land together with all houses and appurtenances" NOTE: This is the land willed to Christopher Holmes by his father John Holmes. When he sold to Cuthbert Harrison is a question-- records of Deed Book F 1741-1742, Deed Book G 1742-1743, Deed Book H 1743-1745 are missing in Prince William Co. Va.

FREDRICK CO. FORMED 1738 FROM ORANGE AND AUGUSTA

|24 November 1737, a Grand Jury of Orange County, Virginia received charges that Christopher Hoomes was living in adultery. One of the panel members was Elisha Perkins. Their findings were that "Hoomes doth live in adultery with the wife of Elisha Perkins."

24 February 1737/38 he was indicted and found guilty on 28 April 1738.

24 August 1738 Christopher Hoomes was in "Custody of the Sheriff until he provides security to the King with two securities and the amount of 50 pounds and that he will not then cohabit nor have any criminal correspondence or adulterous familiarity with Margery the wife of Elisha Perkins."

27 April 1738 Margery Perkins accused Elisha Perkins of "barbarously using" her and the court ordered that "he be taken into custody by the Sheriff until he gives sufficent security of 75 pounds to keep peace towards the people, but more especially towards the said Margery his wife for the time of a year and a day."

25 May 1738 again Margery Perkins accused Elisha Perkins of abuse and barbarous treatment, asking the court for separate alimony.

22 June 1738 Elisha Perkins responded when he denied being the husband of Margery Perkins.

10 September 1741 Elisha Perkins' will was written. Naming children John, Elisha, Ute, Joshua, Elizabeth, Phillis, Margret. He named Christopher Holms as his executor. Peter Van Bebber proved the will in court 27 May 1742 where Christopher Homes refused to accept the burden of executorship and Margery "widow and relict of Elisha Perkins" refused to "stand and abide" by the will, insisting on her thirds by law.

27 May 1742 Elizabeth Perkins daughter of Elisha Perkins was appointed administratrix of the will.

1755 Christopher Holmes sells his 140 acres to Leonard Helms. Purcased by Christopher Holmes of John Wilcox on the south side of Shanando River. Recorded 7 May 1755. Witnesses John Wolcock, John Madden , Thomas Hamton, Bridgh Madden.

NOTE: The above Leonard Helms was also from Prince William Co./Stafford Co. Virginia and lived near John Holmes. Northern Neck Land Grants 1726 Leonard Helmes 152 acres upper side of Dorrells Run, 673 acres on Lucky Run.

NOTE: The above John Madden also witnessed the will of John Holmes father of Christopher Holmes dated March 24, 1739 Prince William Co. Virginia.

"My reputed daughter Ann Spilman wife of Nathaniel Spilman one seventh."

"My reputed daughter Sarah Anderson , wife of Isaac Anderson- one fourteenth." "My reputed daughter Elizabeth Garner, wife of Jonas Garner- one fourteenth." "My reputed daughter Mary Freeman, daughter of Elizabeth Freeman who now lives with me one seventh." "my reputed daughter Frances Freeman, daughter of Elizabeth Freeman, aforesaid-one seventh." Elizabeth Freeman to live on land given to Thomas and George until George comes of age or marries.

The slaves of the Estate of Christopher Hoomes deced amount by valuation to the sum of Eleven hundred ninety pounds which at the request and consent of the Legatees who was present was laid out in Lotts & drawn for by the parties, who agreed to stand to the said division, and those who should draw a lott which exceeded the average according to the apprais'd value to pay up to those whose lott was less than their share, the average amounting to 170 pounds, the said Lotts as below: Lott #1 drawn by Nathaniel Spilman; Lott #2 drawn by George Freeman; Lott #3 drawn by Fannie Freeman; Lott #4 drawn by Thomas Freeman; Lott # 5 drawn by William Sherril; Lott #6 drawn by James Sharpe; Lott # 7 drawn by Jonas Garner & Isaac Anderson.
